Description
Capriolo is a carefully selected natural roe deer hair sourced from mature wild animals in the Italian Alps.
The material is available in two varieties – Autunno (Autumn Hair) and Invernale (Winter Hair) – each offering slightly different characteristics depending on the season. The autumn hair provides an excellent balance of density, straight fibres and natural buoyancy, while the winter hair is thicker and denser.
Both varieties are ideal for dry flies and traditional Alpine patterns, including Deer Hair Caddis, Goddard Sedge, Muddler heads and mayfly wings.
The material is carefully cleaned and disinfected without bleaching or dyeing, preserving the hair's natural colour, structure and properties.
Unlike many standard deer hair patches, SwissCDC carefully selects straight and even fibres without the pronounced curve often found near the tips. This makes it easier to create neat wings, precise split wings and clean spun deer hair heads while reducing material waste.
