Den skandinaviska "Pitekläckaren"

The scandinavian "Pitekläckaren"

I truly love patterns that stand out from the crowd.
Sometimes, that’s exactly what it takes when the fish are selective and you’re not quite sure what they’re feeding on.

The Pitekläckaren is a Scandinavian pattern tied by Fliesbyaspeen — and it’s definitely one you’ll want to have in your fly box.

Thorax Nymph Dubbing is far more versatile than its name suggests.
With a subtle touch of flash, it’s something I’ve started using more and more in my dry flies to create that slight shimmer in the body that often triggers strikes.

  • Dub a slim body
  • Tie in the hackle along the body
  • Trim both underneath and on top

The goal is a fly that sits low in the surface film, creating as natural a silhouette as possible.

The CDC is tied in at the rear of the body and folded forward over the thorax.
This creates a small “bubble” that imitates a wing — light, lifelike, and highly effective.

Mad Rabbit Dubbing is a personal favorite when I want to achieve a truly “buggy” look.
Don’t be afraid to brush out the thorax — that messy, lively appearance is exactly what makes the difference.
Finish the fly with a few fibers of English Partridge to add extra movement and life in the water.
