Bubble Caddis - made from only one material

Bubble Caddis is a caddis pattern created by Fliesbyaspeen that you simply have to try if, like me, you love high-floating dry flies that are quick and easy to tie.

This is one of my go-to patterns whenever caddis start appearing on the water.
Thanks to the generous amount of CDC, it sits high in the surface film with exceptional buoyancy, while the fine fibers give the fly a natural, lifelike movement that can often fool even the most selective trout.

SwissCDC Super Select is without a doubt some of the finest CDC I have ever worked with. The feathers are carefully hand-selected for consistent quality and packed with dense, fine fibers that make them an absolute pleasure to tie with. They may cost a little more, but once you've tried them, it's hard to go back.

Best of all, Bubble Caddis is incredibly simple to tie. The entire fly is tied using just a single material, making it the perfect pattern for both beginners looking for a quick success and experienced fly tyers who want to fill their fly boxes with effective caddis patterns in no time.

Tie up a handful in sizes 12–16 and keep them ready for when the caddis start hatching. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I've included the complete materials list and Fliesbyaspeen's step-by-step tying instructions below.

Tight lines!

  • Thank you so much for the kind words Jim! Great to hear you’re enjoying the tutorials and products. Hopefully the temperatures drop soon and you’ll be able to put a few of the patterns to the test. We’d love to hear how they perform on your local waters! Thanks again for your kind words and for being part of the Northern Hatch community. Tight lines, and happy tying! //William, Northern Hatch

  • Such an easy tie ! Thanks for all the great tutorials on some very interesting fly patterns I have not seen here in the USA, Also, thanks for all the materials I can’t get here like the Troutline products, and SwissCDC . We’re in mid summer now and the streams are too warm to fish, but I’m in tying mode now…waiting for cooler waters, when I’ll put your patterns to the test. Thanks again for your dedication to the sport and willingness to share with the fly tying community around the world. -Jim
